What is the healthiest diet for your heart?

(CNN) — Many people make diet choices on impulse, and lose weight by cutting calories without taking into consideration their health goals. When it comes to heart health, there are several factors to consider, including calorie intake, specific nutrients, and physical activity.
“Calorie intake is a major piece of this puzzle,”We’re talking about the quality, not the quantity, of calories we’re eating.”
Some newer studies suggest that the so-called Mediterranean diet may lower the risk of heart disease and stroke. In fact, the new US-based guidelines echo the Mediterranean diet’s emphasis on healthy fats from fish, fruits, vegetables, whole grains, legumes, and nuts, and avoiding foods high in saturated fats and sugar.  Best Healthy Dinner

These guidelines also stress that diets should contain a variety of foods.
“Research has shown that all dietary patterns can reduce the risk of heart disease and reduce mortality risk, and the traditional Western diet may not be the best for cardiovascular health,” “There’s no one-size-fits-all when it comes to nutrition.”
“The takeaway message is that the Mediterranean diet can be incorporated into a healthy diet, and it can help improve cardiovascular health and other health outcomes.
“No one looks at the Mediterranean diet and thinks that’s the right answer for everyone,” But in terms of the overall diet as a whole and the healthy components, it’s good advice.”                                                                                                                                                          he Mediterranean diet may have several beneficial effects, the diet also can help prevent obesity, which is a major risk factor for heart disease and stroke.

It’s believed that some nutrients, such as omega-3 fatty acids, can help lower cholesterol.

“One of the things we’re probably seeing with the Mediterranean diet is that it’s connected to a decreased risk for developing heart disease, and also the risk of having a heart attack or stroke”.

While the Mediterranean diet has been associated with lower rates of certain cancers, it’s unclear if the diet directly reduces cancer risk.

“There are probably several reasons why we see this relationship between the Mediterranean diet and cancer, but it could be that some of the healthy foods, such as fish and nuts, are good for cancer prevention”. Best Healthy Dinner

“Other components of the Mediterranean diet may also affect cancer risk, such as anti-inflammatory foods”.

Owing to limited resources, the team at the University of North Carolina examined data from previous studies for their analysis, including information on adherence to a Mediterranean diet and different types of cancer.
